Teen discovers mother's body in freezer

MINERAL WELLS, Texas — A teenager discovered his mother's body inside the freezer at the family's Texas home Thursday night, police said.

Mineral Wells police identified the woman Friday as 39-year-old Shannon Sheri Herrin. A preliminary autopsy showed no obvious signs of foul play, said Police Chief Dean Sullivan.

"In looking at information from the crime scene and articles gathered under a search warrant, it does not appear there was any foul play. But, the investigation is ongoing," he said.

Officers were called to the home in Mineral Wells, about 50 miles west of Fort Worth, around 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Herrin’s son found his mother's body in a large, chest-type freezer when he went looking for food for a cookout, Sullivan said.

Herrin’s husband, 49-year-old Cecil Ray Huddleston, was arrested at the home Friday on an unrelated parole violation.
