Quake recorded near Helena by USGS registers in at 2.8

U.S. Geological Survey recorded a 2.8 magnitude earthquake Thursday night near Helena.

The quake happened at 7:36 p.m. 3.1 miles northwest of Helena at a depth of about 3 miles.

The last previous earthquake in the Enid area happened Dec. 5. It was a 3.0 magnitude quake recorded northeast of Garber.

On Nov. 29, a 2.9 magnitude quake hit in Enid, at the corner of Purdue and Van Buren.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 2.5 to 3 is the smallest generally felt by people.
