ENID, Okla. — Testimony was heard from three boys Wednesday during a preliminary hearing for a former Enid Public Schools bus driver and volunteer coach charged with multiple counts of lewd molestation, use of a computer to commit a felony and forcible sodomy.

Patrick Leon Watts, 49, was bound over on 20 felony counts following Wednesday’s hearing before Special District Judge Brian Lovell.

Lovell announced to the court following the hearing there was probable cause for Watts to be bound over on 19 of the 21 counts originally filed.

Watts was charged Oct. 24, 2013, with 13 counts of lewd molestation, seven counts of use of a computer to commit a felony and a single count of forcible sodomy.

Lovell found there were two counts unsupported by the testimony of three boys but found their testimony supported another count of lewd molestation for a total of 20 felony charges.

Watts was bound over for district court arraignment at 10 a.m. Feb. 10 before Associate District Judge Tom Newby.

A 15-year-old Enid boy was the first to testify Wednesday after being called by Assistant District Attorney Jason Seigars.

The teen said he and other boys used to be supervised by Watts and other adults, and he also knew Watts as a coach.

The teen said when he would work with Watts, there was a game Watts would play where he would say “wiener pinch” and attempt to grab the teen’s genitals. He said Watts also would use a handheld mechanical grabber “quite a bit” in attempts to pinch his genitals.

“It happened like every other day,” the teen said. “I just thought it was weird.”

The teen also testified about a night he spent with Watts at a motel in the Oklahoma City metroplex.

He said Watts rented a hotel with a single bed, telling him, “You probably won’t like this, but it’s the best my credit score can do.”

The teen said he slept in the bed with Watts until he woke up with Watts’ arm around him.

“I tried to get him off, but he pulled me tighter,” he said. “I just felt uncomfortable.”

A second 15-year-old, from Pratt, Kan., testified he “got molested” by Watts while in Enid. Seigars asked the teen if he knew what that term meant.

“It means, it kind of sounds like getting raped,” he said.

The teen said in 2011, Watts was going to take him to the Oklahoma State football game against Kansas State in Stillwater. He said Watts picked him up and drove him to Enid on a Friday night. The teen said they drove from Kansas directly to an Enid motel, where Watts rented a room.

“He said he wanted a one-bed room and turned to me and said it would be cheaper,” the teen testified. “I found it awkward. I thought we would have our own bed.”

The teen said he and Watts watched TV before he fell asleep. He said he saw Watts watching pornography on his iPad, and Watts told him to come and look at it.

The teen said he tried to sleep while Watts continued to watch pornography. He said he was able to fall asleep, but awoke to Watts performing oral sex on him.

“I was like scared and didn’t know what to do,” he said. “I didn’t know if I should tell someone.”

The teen said nothing was said between him and Watts until they were at the OSU football game the next day, when Watts asked, “How’s the game?” The teen testified he acted like he couldn’t hear Watts.

The third teen to testify Wednesday was a 13-year-old Enid boy who also was supervised by Watts.

He said he watched pornography with Watts once while at work and another four times while at Watts’ residence. He said one of the times they were viewing pornography, Watts had him sit on his lap. The teen said he was 11 and 12 years old when some of the pornography was viewed.

He also said Watts would ask him about his penis, asked to see it and twice measured his penis. He said Watts also once exposed himself by pulling up his shorts to reveal his genitals.

Enid Police Department Sgt. Tim Doyle testified as the lead investigator of the case.

He told the court the investigation began in mid-October last year with assistance from Sgt. Bryan Hart.

Doyle mostly testified about an interview with Watts Oct. 16, after he was contacted by a Pratt, Kan., teen who said Watts molested him in 2011 while in Enid.

Doyle said he initially spoke with Watts about his employment, which included driving a bus for Enid Public Schools, conducting lunchroom duty at Emerson Middle School and coaching seventh-grade football. Doyle said Watts also told him he worked as a coach in Wichita and Pratt, Kan., prior to working in Enid.

Doyle said he explained to Watts the allegations the teen from Kansas had made. He said he also asked Watts about requesting a single-bed room, but Watts said he did not remember.

“He sat there staring at the floor for 29 seconds and said something to the effect of, ‘I really don’t want to talk about it right now,’” Doyle testified. “I said some things probably happened that should not have happened, and he shook his head up and down, as if in agreement.”

Doyle said Watts appeared “very calm,” which is unusual for someone being accused of such a serious offense.

Doyle said when he asked Watts if it was possible he touched the Kansas teen he replied, “I might have.” When he asked Watts if it was with a hand, foot or mouth, Watts said, “I don’t know.”

Watts is being held in lieu of $1 million bond.
