Oklahoma women's hoops schedule

NORMAN — Oklahoma's women basketball team has released its schedule for the 2013-14 season.

The school said Wednesday it will play 15 nonconference games, with 12 of them at the Noble Center in Norman.

OU will host Preseason WNIT games, with the first round on Nov. 8 against Stetson.

Oklahoma hosts UT Arlington on Nov. 20, before traveling to Los Angeles to meet UCLA on Nov. 24.

Oklahoma begins the 2013-14 season hosting two exhibition games. Cameron visits the Lloyd Noble Center Saturday, Nov. 2, and Central Oklahoma visits Tuesday, Nov. 5.

OSU Cowgirls announce Big 12 hoops schedule

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State's women's basketball team has released its Big 12 schedule for the coming season.

The school said Wednesday the Cowgirls will open Big 12 play with two games at home — Texas on Jan. 2 and West Virginia on Jan. 4. That will be followed by road games at Kansas State and Iowa State.

The Cowgirls' home Big 12 finale will be March 1 against Kansas State and they wrap up the regular season on March 3 at Texas.

OSU was 22-11 last year and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Women's Tournament.

TU's men's soccer team is C-USA preseason favorite

TULSA — Tulsa's men's soccer team has been picked as Conference USA's preseason favorite by the league's coaches.

TU's Cristian Mata was named the preseason offensive player of the year. And both Cristian and older brother Omar Mata were tabbed to the preseason team. The preseason picks were announced Wednesday by the league's office.

A year ago, the Golden Hurricane won the C-USA tournament title, advanced to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen, netted 14 wins, including eight shutouts, and outscored its opponents 48-23.

Cristian Mata, a sophomore forward, started in 19 of 20 games for TU as a true freshman last season. He led the Golden Hurricane in goals (14), assists (6) and points (34), as well as the league in goals and points.

Midfielder Omar Mata is a three-year letterwinner and starter.
