Oral Roberts escapes, beats Ga. Southern

CANCUN, Mexico — Shawn Glover scored 24 points, seven in the final 1:02, as Oral Roberts squeaked by Georgia Southern 67-65 on Tuesday in the Cancun Challenge.

Glover made 10 of his 18 shots for Oral Roberts (3-3) and Korey Billbury added 21, eight rebounds. Oral Roberts made one of its 14 3-pointers, but its defense forced 13 turnovers.

Billbury scored 18 straight points for Oral Roberts at one point — stretching from the 5:14 mark in the first half, until 16:29 in the second.

Georgia Southern pulled within two (60-56) after two Jelani Hewitt free throws.

But Oral Roberts would not relinquish its lead.

Hewitt scored 19 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and had five assists to lead Georgia Southern (2-4). Curtis Diamond had 12 and Tre Bussey added 11.

Oral Roberts will face Bowling Green on Wednesday, after the Falcons routed Presbyterian 67-45.
