Oral Roberts defeats Sam Houston State 65-61 in OT

HUNTSVILLE, Texas — Shawn Glover and Warren Niles scored 17 points apiece and Oral Roberts beat Sam Houston State 65-61 in overtime Saturday, taking sole possession of second place in the Southland Conference.

Korey Billbury scored 16 points and had a team-high eight rebounds. Damen Bell-Holter added 13 points for the Golden Eagles (10-8, 5-1).

The Bearkats (11-7, 4-2) led 26-23 at halftime. The Golden Eagles outscored them in the second half, shooting 54.5 percent, while the Bearkats shot 45.8 percent in the half. At 3:48, the Bearkats were up 51-48 and led by as much as five down the stretch. With 58 seconds to play, Bell-Holter hit a layup to get within one, 55-54. With four seconds remaining, Glover made one free throw to tie the game at 55, but missed the second.

Marquel McKinney had 11 points, and Darius Gatson added 10 for the Bearkats. Demarcus Gatlin had seven rebounds.

Tarrant scores 21, Tulane beats Tulsa 75-72

NEW ORLEANS — Ricky Tarrant scored 21 points and Josh Davis finished with 19 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists as Tulane beat Tulsa 75-72 Saturday in Conference USA play.

Kendall Timmons added 12 points to help Tulane (13-5, 1-2) snap a five-game losing streak against the Hurricane.

Trailing 54-49 with 9:37 left to play, Tulane went on an 18-7 run to take a 67-61 lead with 3:44 remaining. Tarrant sparked the run with a pair of free throws, then capped it with consecutive 3-pointers.

Pat Swilling Jr. made a 3-pointer for Tulsa (11-8, 3-2) with 39 seconds left to cut the deficit to one, 71-70.

After Davis made a pair of free throws with 16 seconds to go, making it 75-72, James Woodard missed a game-tying 3 for Tulsa with 4 seconds left.

Woodard led the Hurricane with 21 points and seven rebounds.
