Prom dress donations needed for ‘A Dress to Remember’

TAHLEQUAH — NSU’s Media Campaigns and Events class is presenting a campaign to help Tahlequah area women have a more affordable prom experience, while raising awareness and money for Court Appointed Special Advocates of Cherokee Country.

Donations of prom dresses and formal wear are being accepted for a fundraising resale event. All dress sizes and styles are needed and are accepted through March 28.

Drop-off locations at NSU: NSU housing office, 622 N. Lewis Ave., Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and NSU Seminary Suites office, 920 Seminary Ave., Monday-Thursday 1 p.m. to midnight, Saturday 1 p.m. -5 p.m., and Sunday 1 p.m.-9 p.m.

Drop off location in the community: Identities Salon, 1031 S. Muskogee Ave., Tuesday-Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The prom dress resale will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 29, in the NSU University Center Ballroom Lounge. All dresses will be on sale for under $40. All proceeds will benefit CASA.

CASA is a community-based organization that trains volunteers to advocate for the best of interests of abused and neglected children in court. CASA volunteers are everyday people who want to make a difference in children’s lives. The volunteers of CASA are responsible for gathering information that will enable the court to understand the situations of the children. They become the eyes and ears of the court, making independent, objective recommendations regarding the child’s best interest.
