TAHLEQUAH — The Alliance for Economic Inclusion (AEI) for Northeastern Oklahoma will present Credit Report Saturday on Jan. 25, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Northeastern State University John Vaughan Library.

This is a community event open to everyone. Registration is recommended, but not required. Call (918) 960-0596 to reserve a spot.

During the event, consumers who bring a photo ID and know their Social Security number can pull a copy of their credit report using www.annualcreditreport.com.

They can then meet one-on-one with local bankers and other financial professionals who act as counselors to help consumers review their credit report. Counselors help the consumer identify weaknesses in their credit history and give tips on how to improve the credit picture. Information finances and home-buying will be available from exhibitors.

The AEI is a nationwide initiative coordinated by the FDIC.

The AEI brings together financial institutions and other partners to help increase the financial capability of consumers, especially those of low- to moderate-income and small businesses and move them into the financial mainstream.

They actively promote the development and delivery of low-cost, competitive financial products and provide technical assistance between financial institutions and groups that work with emerging-market communities.

The coalitions are comprised of community-based organizations, financial organizations, foundations, employers, faith-based organizations, tribal, state and local governmental agencies, bank regulators, and public officials. The Oklahoma AEI is centered in Tulsa and focuses on the needs of the 20-plus counties in the northeastern quadrant of the state.
