Dream Theatre to screen ‘Inequality For All’ flick

TAHLEQUAH — On Thursday at 6 p.m., the Dream Theatre, 312 N. Muskogee Ave., will screen “Inequality For All,” a documentary about income disparity in the U.S. The screening is sponsored by the Cherokee County Democrats and admission is free.

Directed by Jason Kornbluth, the film follows University of California-Berkley professor and former U.S. labor secretary Robert Reich, who argues that income inequality is one of the most grave threats to the U.S. and its economy.

While the film focuses on Reich, it also includes discussions with other economists, politicians and working Americans.

“Inequality For All” was released in 2013 and screened at the Sundance Film Festival, where it won the special jury price for achievement in filmmaking.

The screening is in conjunction with a national “watch party” with Democracy For America. After the film, the audience can take part in a nationwide conference call discussion with Reich at 8 p.m.

“I would love for folks to come see it,” said former State Sen. Jim Wilson, who worked to arrange the screening. “Whether they agree or not - members of our local Republican Party have said they will attend - it is a great discussion point. When people get involved and try to understand their government, they can work to improve their lives.”

For more information about the screening of “Inequality For All,” call the Dream Theatre at (918) 457-8312, or the Cherokee County Democrats at (918) 822-4449 or (918) 708-5512.
