Editor, Daily Press:
I want to extend my congratulations to the staff of the Tahlequah Daily Press for the high ratings and total number of awards earned at the [AP/ONE Carl Rogan Awards] contest. The citizens of Tahlequah and Cherokee County should have a special day dedicated to acknowledging this outstanding recognition for our local paper.
In my all-too-frequent travels, I look at local papers in towns of similar size, some even larger, and I have yet to find one anywhere near the quality of content or total range of topics as the Tahlequah Daily Press. Most are just canned publications from far-away networks. The focus on local people and organizations is especially outstanding.
There is only one explanation for the high ratings and total number of awards: hard work and dedication to excellence.
Again, I celebrate your successes and invite all residents to also extend notes of congratulation – and to be quite honest, more people need to subscribe.
Again, congratulations on recognition of your hard work and dedication to serving our community.
