Beliefs are individual

Editor, Daily Press:

In reply to Mrs. Kim Kliest’s diatribe against having sporting events on Sunday or Wednesday, or any time which she deems sacrosanct, a simple solution is for her to withhold her children’s talents from the athletic fields on the day or days, or whenever, she decides God has a prior claim.

Her eight paragraphs which disclaimed “causing any trouble” might also be served by having as a czar for “when and what we are to do with our time.” I believe the Sabbath also might be considered as a day in which nothing is to be done – even turning on a light switch for some of the Jewish faith.

It was not too many years ago when the “Blue Laws” were written into the civil codes, hence the name of sundae for ice cream served with topping. Mrs. Kliest will probably assume I am a member of the great “un-washed and un-churched,” and that would be incorrect.

When one has a set of beliefs, which is meaningful to him or her, that is the individual’s choice. Trying to change the rest of the country to accommodate those beliefs shows little respect for those who do not feel the same.
