Mahaney’s doing fine

Editor, Daily Press:
I’ve been snooping around the police department, to see how Chief Clay Mahaney is doing in his one month in office.
There is a noticeable difference in the department.
Morale of the officers seems to be on a high, and they are working together in what appears to be a relaxing pace, with less tension and nitpicking. They are all excited about the future and the changes to come.
Chief Mahaney made an excellent choice in selecting Steve Garner as his assistant chief.
He has a lot of input to be an asset to the department.
Mahaney and Garner will be a good team, to enforce the laws and safety for the residents of Tahlequah.
We have fine, dedicated officers, who are working hard for us.
We need more officers to cover our city, so be a little patient when you call if they can’t respond pronto.
If folks would put their car keys in their pockets before they leave their autos, our officers could answer priority calls, instead of spending their time opening doors for locked-in keys.
It does happen, so be more aware when you leave your auto.
So, let’s stand behind out police department and appreciate our officers.
