Editor, Daily Press: This is a response to a June 7 letter by Rev. Roach. In response to your hypocritical show of religious devotion, I disagree on whether Dr. Tiller (if that is whom you refer to) should be allowed to hand out programs at the Lutheran Church, much less be a member, and I fail to see where someone who is handing out programs or ushering is an “official.” Is the church not where us sinners should be Sunday morning? And because he puts money in the plate, the church is doing the work of the devil? You misquoted the Bible in your comments, saying money is the root of all evil. I believe it’s the “love” of money that is the root of all evil. Being rich has nothing to do with whether one goes to heaven. If you have accepted God in your heart, you’re saved, and no man or nothing can take you out of the hand of God. I believe it’s God’s mercy, which means anyone can go to heaven if you only believe. And that is what we should be thankful for and clinging to. Here are some scriptures, Rev. Roach, that you may want to read and study to help you in your vision of being a true Christian. Mark 2: 15-17: “And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him. And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners? When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” Luke 6:37: “Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven.” Olga Hoenes Tahlequah
