Editor, Daily Press: I found the Sunday edition a little confusing. On page 4A, there was an offensive political cartoon of Speaker Pelosi. On page 5A, there was a headline about Rep. John Boehner saying that the GOP has the solutions for our nation’s health care problems. I read and reread the article several times. I still can’t find any ideas in the article about how to deal with the problem, just attacks on the ideas Democrats have put forth. Perhaps there was too little space to print the entire AP article, but I found the headline very misleading. We DO have a national problem dealing with health care. I have yet to hear of Republican alternatives that go beyond “cutting taxes” or providing tax credits for corporations and individuals. This problem is going to cost money to solve. Cutting taxes reduces revenue and services (as the state of Oklahoma is belatedly learning). I would appreciate learning what Boehner’s proposed solutions are. I don’t need a multipage document, but I need some specific ideas. I have read the Democratic plans that are still evolving, but at least there are ideas here that will deal with the problem of the uninsured and ideas of how to pay for programs. I need to hear specific ideas for alternatives, not just attacks. Jeannette Wilson Tahlequah
