Editor, Daily Press:
Our speaker in the Oklahoma Legislature [T.W. Shannon] recently announced his intention to leave his Oklahoma post to run for Sen. Tom Coburn’s seat.
Recently, Shannon opposed the legislation to make texting while driving a violation. His reason was that he was concerned how it would be enforced. Actually, he was concerned for supporting law proposed by a Democrat member of the House.
Are you kidding me? How could anyone think that texting while driving could be a good idea? I wonder what his thoughts were about people riding in the bed of a pickup. It is against the law to ride without a seatbelt, but if you are in the bed, it is OK?
I wonder how the other two potential candidates voted on these two simple issues? Think about these type of things when you go to the voting booth.
