Sequoyah safety

LOST CITY — Editor, Daily Press:

As a parent, I am thankful of the efforts at Sequoyah Schools to ensure student safety.

The school’s administration, along with Cherokee Nation Chief Bill John Baker, understands an investment in safety protocols makes our children safer day in and day out.

It makes me breathe easier, as a parent, knowing that Cherokee Nation marshals have practiced emergency scenarios with our kids and are on campus daily.

These investments do not ensure a Columbine or Newtown incident will never happen at our school, but I believe it is the right step to make sure our children are prepared and safe.
