Editor, Daily Press:
Recently, a TwentyPoundCarp with a twitter feed (@TwentyPoundCarp) was a write-in candidate for the Ann Arbor City Council. Given the actions of our Tahlequah City Council, I might also prefer the carp.
The carp limits his communications to 140 characters. This brevity would be welcome. The carp shows originality, and can swim against the current. In all the time I have been watching Tahlequah council, I can remember only a few times the council has ever refused a request from city administration.
The carp shows strength. While the charter forms a strong council/weak mayor system, the council has abdicated its role of directing and of oversight. It has weakly bent to whatever the mayor wishes.
In many ways, a TwentyPoundCarp would be better than our council.
