LOCUST GROVE – A Locust Grove man died at the scene of a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has identified the victim as Michael Wayne Hooker, 51. Hooker was driving a 1994 Chevrolet pickup and was pronounced dead at the scene from massive injuries.
Reports state Hooker was partially ejected through the driver’s side window and was pinned under the truck for 56 minutes.
Hooker was driving east on a county road when a 2004 Chevrolet pickup driven by Courtney Marie Calvert, 19, was headed west and went left of center and hit the Hooker vehicle head on.
The Hooker vehicle continued east and overturned a quarter time coming to rest on the driver’s side.
Calvert was being treated for a leg injury at St. Francis Hospital after being taken there by an air ambulance. She was listed in fair condition and was pinned in her vehicle for 33 minutes.
Hooker was not wearing a seat belt and Calvert was wearing a seat belt. The crash was reported at 2:34 p.m. a mile west of Locust Grove and was investigated by OHP Trooper Colby Overstreet.
