OKLAHOMA CITY – Several area inmates were denied parole last week by the state’s Pardon and Parole Board.

Among those denied an early release was Jason L. Baldridge, who has been serving a term at Jess Dunn Correctional Center in Taft since March 2008. Baldridge is imprisoned for cultivation of marijuana, manufacturing a controlled drug and possession of a controlled drug.

David R. Botts’ hearing before the board was passed. He is serving a sentence for forgery, possession of stolen vehicle, possession of a credit card and running roadblock. Records show Botts is also serving a sentence from Sequoyah County.

Marcus Ryan Soap was also denied parole. He is serving a sentence on Adair County convictions for possession of controlled drug, throwing objects at a moving vehicle, burglary and escape from jail.

Sequoyah County had three inmates on the list. Billy Jack Brooks was passed. He is charged with bringing contraband into a jail, manufacturing a controlled drug and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Clayton Matthew Edwards was denied for attempted kidnapping and possession of controlled drug. Bobby D. Qualls was denied parole and is serving his sentence for possession of controlled drug, burglary and larceny of an auto.

The final area inmate on the list if Bryan Cornell Steele, who was denied parole on a Wagoner County conviction for second-degree robbery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

What’s next

The next regular meeting for the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board will be March 24-27 at Hillside Correctional Center in Oklahoma City.
