ROLAND – Alcohol is believed to have played a role in a single-vehicle crash Sunday morning that killed a Muldrow man.
Zane Wayt, 18, died from massive injuries suffered in the crash. His passenger, 16-year-old Alex Cole, refused treatment at the scene.
The Wayt vehicle, a 2000 Chevrolet pickup, was eastbound on a county road when it went left of center, traveled back to the right before verring off the road and into a deep ditch. The truck partially overturned and came to rest on its top
Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports state there was an odor of alcoholic beverages on Wayt, but the cause of the crash is still pending. Cole was wearing a seat belt. It’s unknown whether Wayt was wearing a seat belt. The crash occurred on a county road, four miles south and a tenth of a mile east of Roland at 4:40 a.m. and was investigated by OHP Trooper Shane Allen.
