Woman charged with knife attack

— STILWELL – Adair County prosecutors have charged an area woman with assault and battery with a deadly weapon after she allegedly stabbed a local man.
Stephanie Bruner, 34, is charged with stabbing Michael Miller, who has a Tahlequah address, with an 8-inch knife. The incident occurred late April 1 in a residence near Stilwell.
Adair County Sheriff’s Deputy Steve Brackett filed a report stating he was called by the dispatcher, who reported Miller was at Hastings Indian Medical Center and was saying he was stabbed by his girlfriend in Adair County.
Bruner, w ho was at home in the Rocky Mountain area, told Brackett Miller came at her, put his hands around her neck and started choking her. She said she was defending herself when the stabbing occurred.
Brackett’s report states Bruner had no marks around her neck. Miller had a stab wound on his upper left arm and his right leg, two wounds on his right forearm, and one that went all the way through his arm.
Miller told Brackett the wound that went through his arm was aimed at his chest, and he put his arm up to save his life.
Assault and battery with a deadly weapon is punishable by imprisonment for up to 20 years. Associate District Judge Elizabeth Brown set a $10,000 bond on the condition Bruner have no contact with the victim.
Assistant District Attorney Shannon Otteson is prosecuting the case.
