Area pair jailed on drug charges

— SALLISAW – Two Sallisaw area residents were jailed Wednesday on drug charges as an ongoing investigation into the illegal distribution of marijuana continues.
Patricia June Haynes, 43, and Jared Thomas Melton, 25, were booked when Sequoyah County sheriff’s deputies teamed with District 27 drug task force agents to serve a search warrant. Haynes was booked for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of paraphernalia. She has been released on an $8,000 bond.
Melton was booked on the same charges and remained incarcerated Thursday on an $8,000 bond. He also had an outstanding arrest warrant.
Marijuana and items of paraphernalia were found by agents serving the search warrant.
