Published May 16, 2008 11:15 am - Authorities recover stolen pump, generator By BOB GIBBINS TAHLEQUAH DAILY PRESS — City and county law enforcement personnel joined forces Thursday and recovered a stolen water pump and electric generator at a rural residence.
Cherokee County Undersheriff Jason Chennault said Dorian Scott Earl, 38, was booked on knowingly concealing stolen property and felon in possession of a firearm charges. He said TPD Detective Lt. Dale Glory arrested Earl after Earl came to the detectives’ office to speak with them about a stolen property investigation. Chennault said an industrial water pump taken from Patton Construction in late 2007 was recovered along with a 4,500-pound generator taken from a Christie water district last summer in Adair County. He said Earl told investigators about taking six trailers in Cherokee and Adair counties. Earl then allegedly gave authorities permission to search his property on Mud Valley Road. District 2 County Commissioner Bobby Botts sent a front end loader to the property. The loader was used to put the generator on a wrecker for transport to the property owner. Chennault said SKS rifle was also found in the house and Earl is a convicted felon. He said Earl allegedly admitted taking at least 100 gallons of diesel from storage tanks and vehicles in the area. TPD Detectives Chris Boals and Jeff Haney and Sheriff’s Investigator Casey Baker were also involved in the recovery.
