Two Cookson residents were formally charged Monday with endeavoring to manufacture a controlled drug.
Shawn Pe-ters, 37, and Dusty Rollice, 34, are charged with endeavoring to manufacture a controlled drug, possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute, and possession of paraphernalia.
The charges were filed as part of an ongoing narcotics probe by Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies and District 27 drug task force agents.
Prosecutors allege Rollice and Peters had numerous chemicals and laboratory equipment used to manufacture a controlled drug. They are also charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute. The paraphernalia count alleges possession of drug scales and rolling papers.
Endeavoring to manufacture a controlled drug is punishable by imprisonment for seven years to life and/or a fine of not less than $50,000. The marijuana count is punishable by imprisonment for two years to life and/or a fine of up to $20,000, and the paraphernalia count is punishable by imprisonment for up to a year and/or a fine of up to $1,000.
Assistant District Attorney David Pierce is prosecuting the case.
