Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies recovered several items of stolen property Friday evening when they served a search warrant at a residence in the Hulbert area.
Sheriff’s Investigator Becky Thompson said the suspect was not home when law enforcement personnel arrived to serve the warrant, but an arrest is expected soon.
Thompson and Sheriff’s Deputy Waylon Tarkington were working on the case for much of the day Friday. The recovered property belongs to Meghan Heineke. Thompson said 19 locks were cut off of storage units, but the property was only taken from one.
She said a washer and dryer, DVD-VCR combo and a handmade shelf were among the items recovered. Thompson said some personal effects such as clothing were also located. A set of bolt cutters were also found at the location.
Thompson said the recovered property filled the bed of a truck and the back seat of a car. She said she and Tarkington developed sufficient information during the day to obtain a search warrant for the suspect’s property.
The suspect is expected to face knowingly concealing stolen property charges.
