Cherokee County prosecutors have filed second-degree rape charges on a pair of men in connection with separate incidents.
An arrest warrant was issued Tuesday for Esteban Vazquez, 37, who allegedly had sexual relations with a juvenile female on June 7 at a residence in Tahlequah. A $50,000 bond has been set on Vazquez’s warrant, signed by Special District Judge Sandy Crosslin.
In the other case, Brian K. Bowers, 21, allegedly admitted having sex with a 15-year-old girl May 25. He is also charged with a count of rape by instrumentation. His bond was set at $60,000 by Associate District Judge Mark Dobbins.
Second-degree rape is punishable by imprisonment for one to 15 years. The rape by instrumentation count is punishable by imprisonment for five years to a life without parole sentence.
Both cases were filed after an investigation by Reed Felts, Tahlequah Police Department’s sexual assault and domestic violence investigator. Assistant District Attorney Yvette Duvall is prosecuting the cases.
