Offices closing for holiday
Many businesses along with government offices will be closed sometime during the weekend for the Independence Day holiday.
City, county and state government offices will be closed Friday, July 3. The city’s Solid Waste Services will be closed Friday for the holiday as well. There will be no leaf or yard waste pickup this week.
Those offices will reopen Monday, July 6.
The United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians offices will be closed Friday, July 3, and Monday, July 6. Offices will reopen Tuesday, July 7, at 8:30 a.m.
The Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma will close their offices Friday, July 3.
The Tahlequah Daily Press offices will be closed Monday, July 6, for the holiday.
Dem Women meeting Friday
The Cherokee County Democratic Women’s meeting will be Friday, July 3, at the Restaurant of the Cherokees. The meeting will begin at noon, so arrive early if wanting to eat the buffet lunch.
The speaker will be Connie Parnell, Cherokee County Election Board secretary. All members are encouraged to attend and bring a guest.

Seniors celebrate birthdays
The Tahlequah Senior Citizens who celebrated birthdays in June were Dick Miley, Homer Drywater, Jim Quetone, Troy Neale, Ruth Price, George Stufflebeam, Anita Hammond, Helen Chapman and Lena Smetana.
Homer Drywater received the potted plant donated by Scott Cragar. The birthday cake was donated by Sam and Lisa Hart. The next birthday celebration will be Friday, July 24.
Daily activities at the center are ceramics, pool, dominoes, cards and exercise. Dances are 7-10 p.m. on Fridays.
