The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office assisted Pryor detectives in locating and arresting a robbery suspect last week.
Cherokee County Undersheriff Jason Chennault said he and Deputy Rick Duggin assisted Pryor detectives Doug Barham and James Willyard in arresting Karen Conway in northern Cherokee County.
“[Conway] was being sought in connection with plotting the robbery of a Cato clothing store in Pryor in late May,” said Chennault.
While inside Conway’s home, approximately 1-1/4 miles south of the Mayes County line in Cherokee County, officers saw in plain view several glass pipes known to be associated with smoking marijuana.
Officers obtained a search warrant, and eventually located over 40 grams of crystal methamphetamine commonly referred to as ice.
They also located a loaded .25 caliber handgun, a .22 rifle, and a surveillance system set up so those inside the residence could see vehicles approaching the driveway and people walking to the front door.
Conway was arrested and booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center for trafficking a controlled dangerous substance, possessing a firearm in commission of a felony, and possession of surveillance equipment during the commission of a felony.
The surveillance equipment, said Chennault, was seized for forfeiture purposes.
