Commissioners OK 911 recorder purchase

By BOB GIBBINS

TAHLEQUAH DAILY PRESS

Cherokee County commissioners unanimously approved the purchase of a digital logging recorder for the county’s 911 system.

Three bids were opened before the board, on 911 Director Darryl Maggard’s recommendation, voted to accept a bid from Travis Voice and Data. Other bidders were Muskogee Communications and Voice Products Inc. Voice Products didn’t submit a bid form, said Commission Chairman Mike Ballard.

Maggard asked for some “add ons” included in the bid that brought Travis’ base bid of $18.456 to $24,406, which was still lower than Muskogee Communications bid of $33,885.

The board also voted to approve payment of $496 as annual membership dues to the County Officers and Deputies Association. A resolution and intent to participate in ACCO-SIG 2008-’09 property and liability insurance was also approved.

Commissioners approved a supplemental services contract with Tahlequah Public Schools for a CADRE officer.

A mass immunization plan that will be incorporated into an addendum to the county’s emergency operations plan was approved. The board also approved renewal of the health department’s contract for direct observed therapy for TB clients.

A resolution to appropriate $22,000 from the town of Hulbert into a REAP (rural economic action plan) fund. District 2 Commissioner Bobby Botts said the funds will be used for the new Hulbert library.

What’s next

The next regular meeting of the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners will be Monday, July 21 at 9 a.m. in the second-floor conference room at the Cherokee County Courthouse.
