Hutton to face trial for store robbery

— A Tahlequah man was bound over for trial Wednesday for an alleged armed robbery of a local convenience store.
At the conclusion of a preliminary hearing before Associate District Judge Mark Dobbins, Charles Hutton, 18, was ordered held for trial on a charge of robbery with a weapon. Hutton’s next court appearance will be a district court arraignment, when his case will be placed on a jury sounding docket.
Hutton is charged with the July robbery of the Ray’s Hilltop Store on West Choctaw. Assistant District Attorney David Pierce said the clerk on duty at the time of the robbery identified Hutton in the courtroom as the robber.
Police said Steven Silva drove the getaway car.
Money taken in the heist was allegedly used to pay rent and buy groceries.
TPD Detective Lt. Dale Glory, the lead investigator in the case, said in a previous interview that authorities started following up on leads that pointed them to Hutton and Silva, who were living at 610 Russell. He said both men were involved in planning the robbery.
TPD Detective Jeff Haney and Cherokee County Undersheriff Jason Chennault were involved in the probe. Crystal Jackson represents Hutton.
