WOODALL – A $7,500 bond was set Tuesday for the Woodall School maintenance man after his arrest for allegedly taking money from a school office.
Sheriff’s Investigators Becky Thompson and Casey Baker arrested Terry Michael Davis, 50, on an embezzlement charge. They say he took from an office late last week approximately $1,200, which had been collected at a football game.
Woodall Superintendent Steve Haynes reported the theft to the sheriff’s office.
Thompson said Davis was one of four people who had keys to the office. She and Baker went to speak with Davis after he didn’t show up for work Tuesday.
A bank bag containing nearly $200 of the money, in small bills and change, was found in Davis’ vehicle.
Davis allegedly told investigators he took some of the cash to Cherokee Casinos in Tahlequah and Catoosa. He allegedly took money from the office on two occasions the same day.
Davis was booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center after his arrest. Formal charges will be filed in district court.
