PARK HILL – The Friends of the Murrell Home will hold their monthly meeting this Thursday, Nov. 5, at 6:30 p.m., at the Murrell Home in Park Hill. Topics for discussion include the upcoming Christmas Open House on Sunday, Dec. 13 and current fundraising projects for preservation projects. Tea rings on sale this week The Tahlequah High School and Tahlequah Middle School Vocal Music departments are announcing the return of the tea rings. From 5-7 p.m. every Monday, Nov. 2 to Wednesday, Dec. 7, tea rings may be purchased at Greenwood Elementary for $7. Pre-orders or scheduled deliveries of tea rings may be made by contacting the THS Vocal Music Department at 458-4150, ext. 1122; TMS Vocal Music at 458-4140, ext. 1310; TPS PAC office at 458-4155; or e-mail greenm@tahlequah.k12.ok.us, stocksh@tahlequah.k12.ok.us, or petersm@tahlequah.k12.ok.us. NSU hosting awareness event A human trafficking awareness event and fundraiser will be held Thursday, Nov. 5, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Morgan room of the University Center. At this free event, free food, beverages, door prizes and opportunities to purchase items to support the cause will be available. Mark Elam with Oklahomans Against the Trafficking of Humans and Angel Eyes International will be presenting. This event is being organized by NSU National Association of Student Social Workers and sponsored by donations from Beta Sigma Phi Mu Omega, Tahlequah chapter. Library offering chess club Want to learn to play chess, or are you an expert at it? The Tahlequah Public Library is inviting all youth from kindergarten to 12th grade to play chess at the library. The Chess Club meets every Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the meeting rooms.
