Tahlequah Industrial Authority trustees agreed during their regular meeting Wednesday to pay MC Lawn Care LLC for mowing the grounds around American Woodmark and One Degree Lawn Care for lawn care for the Dollar Rent-A-Car property.
Assistant City Administrator Kevin Smith said sealed bids were received from three companies, but none submitted bids for all three projects. A bid was also sought for upkeep on the sins, shrubs and flowerbeds.
MC Lawn Care was the low bidder for the Woodmark project at $450 per mowing, compared to $475 from Property Upkeep. One Degree didn’t submit a bid for Woodmark.
One Degree’s bid of $550 for the Dollar property was accepted over Property Upkeep at $235 per mowing, with two pre-emergences at $300 each and three fertilizations at $250 each.
The Woodmark project includes mowing, weed-eating and picking up trash. One Degree will be mowing, trimming, edging and sweeping at Dollar on a weekly basis during growing season and bi-weekly in the off season. Trash, leaf and debris removal, turf fertilizer and weed control, as well as shrub pruning and landscape bed maintenance, is also included in the work.
Trustee David Moore gave other board members an update on the authority Web site, which should be completed in January or February. A group photo of the board with Mayor Ken Purdy was taken before the meeting for inclusion on the site. Moore said other candid photos have also been taken.
TIA members also welcomed former Mayor Jerry Cook to the membership. Cook was appointed by Purdy to fill Pam Williams’ unexpired term on the board. Williams, appointed by Cook during his tenure, left the authority when her husband, NSU President Dr. Larry Williams, retired.
“I look forward to doing anything I can to help the community,” Cook said.
What’s next
The next regular meeting of the Tahlequah Industrial Authority will be Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 6 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall.
