Annexation hearing on tap Monday

— Public comment will be sought on a proposed annexation of property into the city prior to Monday’s city council session.
The city has posted notice for a public hearing at 6:45 p.m., in Council Chambers at City Hall. The regular meeting will start at 7 p.m.
The annexation is listed as a consent annexation of Jerry Fuller’s property on Powell Road. A consent annexation means the property owner has requested the annexation.
A proposed annexation ordinance will be discussed during the meeting. This is the first reading of the ordinance and all ordinances must have a second reading before they may be considered by the council.
The ordinance states the real estate would be beneficial to the city to annex and make a part of the city’s corporate limits. It also states, if approved, the ordinance will go into effect 30 days after its approval.
The ordinance calls for the property to come into the city with an R-1, single family residential zoning classification.
Another action of the ordinance states the area can be serviced by utilities and is included in the long range water, wastewater and electrical distribution plan for the public works authority.
