Area motorcyclist killed in crash with vehicle

VIAN – A motorcyclist was killed last Wednesday in a crash with a vehicle on State Highway 100 northwest of Vian.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has identified the victim as Daniel Edward Trumbull, 53, of Warr Acres. He was riding a 2001 Honda and was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS from injuries suffered in the crash.
Reports state a 2003 Chevrolet driven by Lorene Nelson, 80, was headed south on a county road about 4:40 p.m., stopped at a stop sign. The Trumbull motorcycle was headed west on State Highway 100 when Nelson allegedly failed to yield from the stop sign and was hit by the motorcycle.
Trumbull was ejected 45 feet from the point of impact. Trumbull was wearing a helmet; Nelson was wearing her seat belt.
Nelson was treated at Sequoyah Memorial Hospital and released. The cause of the crash is listed as a failure to yield from a stop sign.
