District 27 prosecutors have formally charged a Tahlequah man who allegedly stabbed another man at least 16 times last month.
Anthony Sims, 19, is being held at the Cherokee County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond. Sims was arrested Dec. 26 after he allegedly used a knife to stab 21-year-old Dalton Tolliver in his back, leg, and the front part of his body.
Sims is now charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon. If Sims were to be found guilty, he could face up to life in prison.
Tahlequah police and detectives were called to a home in the 600 block of East Cherry early Dec. 26. Police said Tolliver was lying on the ground and covered in blood, with multiple stab wounds to his body.
Police said Sims and Tolliver were both living in the home with their girlfriends, who are sisters, when the two men began to argue. The exchange eventually led to the alleged stabbing.
Tolliver was taken to a Tulsa hospital following the incident, and has since been released.
