Last-minute gifts entice

Staff Writer

TAHLEQUAH — It’s Christmas Eve, and while most have finished shopping for gifts and have them wrapped and under the tree, there are always a few folks who enjoy the thrill of last-minute gift-buying.

Area residents who find themselves in the latter group are in luck, because many local businesses will be open Christmas Eve, and are stocked and ready to help shoppers.

Aaron LeMaster, owner of Eufloria, has a number of items that would make the perfect gift.

“I have a photo mobile [that’s reasonably priced], that would be a great gift for the office, a dorm room or a baby’s room,” said LeMaster. “Being a florist, I also have several different vases and obviously a variety of flowers.”

LeMaster said popular floral arrangements for the holidays include lower-height arrangements for tables, and incorporate white lilies, shades of red and green hydrangea.

“I go and cut a lot of my own greens, so a lot of those, like the holly are locally sourced,” said LeMaster.

Those looking to pick up a quick arrangement are invited to stop by the shop at 306 N. Muskogee Ave. Eufloria will open at 10 a.m.

Those who are shopping on the north end of town won’t want to miss the gift opportunities at Vivid Salon and Boutique, 304 N. Muskogee Ave. According to Amy Carter, they, too, have a number of locally-sourced items.

“We’re going to be open Christmas Eve until 7,” said Carter. “There’s no better gift than a scarf, and we have lots to choose from. Plus, we have fingerless gloves that have been locally made, along with some jewelry by local artisans. Right now, both the scarves and the jewelry are on sale.”

Vivid also has a variety of hair care and grooming products for men and women, as well as purses, journals and other trinkets for the last-minute shopper.

Those who are looking for eclectic gifts may want to stop by Dos Okies Emporium, 215 N. Muskogee Ave. Owner David Millican said they’re hosting a sale on Christmas Eve.

“Everything will be 20 percent off,” said Millican. “We have all kind of unusual items, from original paintings to hand-turned pins, carving sets, wooden bowls and other original art.”

The store will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today.
