A Tahlequah man was arrested by sheriff’s deputies on March 24 following a response to a domestic abuse call.
Michael Paden, 56, was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center.
According to investigators, Paden had been arguing with his wife, who was described as disabled, about missing pain medication.
Paden was reported to have struck his wife several times on the right side of her face and ear with a closed fist.
The woman’s forearms were also reported to appear “very red” in color, as Paden attempted to gain possession of his wife’s purse.
Mrs. Paden told investigators she was in the bedroom, lying on the bed, when her husband approached her.
She said she had to grab Paden’s testicles to stop him from taking her purse.
