TAHLEQUAH — Lake Region Electric Cooperative members from around the area will travel to Hulbert Saturday, April 27, as the cooperative hosts its 63rd Annual Meeting.

The event will be held at Hulbert High School with registration starting at 9 a.m., said LREC CEO Hamid Vahdatipour.

Members will be asked to select three board members from a four-candidate slate. Gary Cooper, Jim Loftin and Randall Shankle are already serving on the board; Louis Bohanon is the fourth candidate.

Trustees chosen Saturday will serve three-year terms.

Cooper, the current president of the LREC board, and his wife, Cheryl, own and operate Hulbert Country Corner and Hulbert Super Stop. They have a farm in the Shady Grove community. He represents LREC on the board of Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives.

Shankle has been a credentialed LREC trustee for the last 20 months and is a lifelong Hulbert resident. He owns S&S Communications Specialists, Shankle Cattle Co., and is part owner of American Environmental Fabrication and Supply. He and his wife, Amy, have five children.

Loftin has been a trustee for nine years and has been owner-operator of Loftin Cattle Co. for 31 years. He has lived in Cherokee County for 61 years and has been president of the Cherokee County Cattlemen’s Association for the past 25 years. He holds degrees from NSU and OSU.
