Business on Tahlequah’s main street corridor continues to grow with the recent addition of a bar and grill eatery and a beauty salon.
The Grill has been open since June 5, and the full-service salon, known as Remedy Blu, has been open since February.
A maternity and baby clothing store called Mommy & Me is also now open on South Muskogee Avenue in the Felts Plaza Shopping Center, at 16 Plaza South, across from the tag agent office.
Remedy Blu, 415 N. Muskogee Ave., can be found just a few doors down from Sam & Ella’s Chicken Palace, and the staff wants to help customers “be a beautiful you.”
The salon takes walk-in customers from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays, said Remedy Blu receptionist Amanda Snyder.
“We can do appointments before or after [the walk-in hours],” she said. “We have nine stylists now. We have a tiered system, which is a little different than what other people offer. We have stylists who just graduated, who are overseen by the senior and master stylists. Their prices are a little bit cheaper. Then we have stylists with more experience: our senior and master stylists.”
Remedy Blu features the New York salon line Bumble and Bumble products for women and men, and customers can an enjoy a free styling session when requested. The Bumble and Bumble product line started in 1977, Snyder said.
“They started in New York for fashion runway hair styling. The reason it was liked so much was because it was a very effective, but clean product. They could brush it out real easy, and then restyle,” she said. “It’s a little more expensive than basic products, but it’s super-concentrated. Everyone who’s used it has said, ‘I’ll never use another product again.’”

Mommy & Me owner-operator Leah Warner said her store opened in the middle of May, and offers the Cowgirl Maternity line, as well as other maternity needs.
“We have baby bags and bottle pets. Bottle pets are a stuffed animal that you can put your bottle in, like a lady bug or a cow,” she said. “It keeps the bottle insulated, and it helps the baby hold on to the bottle.”
Warner said people looking for baby shower gifts can find something at her store, and she added that business has started to pick up.
“It’s been going pretty well,” she said. “We also have a baby registry, and we do gift wrapping. Beside the Cowgirl Maternity line, we have some shirts that have sayings like ‘Expecting a little firework in July’ and due date shirts. We also have maternity bathing suits.”
