HULBERT — Incumbent Shirley Teague and recently-elected member Kenneth Fore Jr. were officially sworn in following Thursday’s regular Hulbert Public Works Authority/ Town Board of Trustees meeting.

Fore defeated former Hulbert trustee Ed Beckham last month, receiving 48 votes or 38.4 percent of the ballots cast.

Teague was re-elected with 48.9 percent of the votes, or 64 of the ballots cast.

Teague said the meeting was fairly routine.

Some of the discussions at Thursday’s meeting included the purchase of Block 8 and Block 9 from “Mr. Smith” and the Rattlesnake Branch Creek bridge replacement and roadway realignment project. An update was given on the status of the loan application through Lake Region Electric Cooperative.

“We’re not close on anything with that, yet,” she said.

A notice to proceed with a water plant intake system project, funded through the Rural Economic Action Plan and Eastern Oklahoma Development District, was approved.

“Another thing we discussed is the [Hulbert Hustle] 5k [& Fun Run]. We’re going to help them in any way we can,” she said.

The 5K and Fun Run is being sponsored by the Hulbert First Baptist Church and Reaching Our Hulbert Community, and will be held Saturday, April 20.
