TAHLEQUAH — Tahlequah police arrested a local woman this week on drug-related charges.

Sheila L. Oropeza, 35, of Tahlequah, was booked for possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officer Todd Carnes said managers of an apartment complex found Oropeza inside an apartment where she was not listed on the lease.

When Carnes found Oropeza, she had her bags packed and was about to leave.

Carnes said he asked Oropeza if she had any drugs in her possession, and she retrieved a brown wallet from her packet. Oropeza then told Carnes the wallet wasn’t hers.

According to Carnes, the wallet contained three small bags containing white powder and a small rock. He also discovered two pipes and a straw.

Oropeza was still jailed Wednesday with a $7,500 bond.
