A Tahlequah woman was jailed Sunday after she allegedly attacked a family member as they were riding in a vehicle.
Sheila Lee Oropeza, 34, was arrested by Cherokee County sheriff’s deputies and booked on charges of domestic violence in the presence of a minor.
Deputy Bryan Qualls said he was called to a physical domestic situation near Park Hill and Murrell roads. He met with a woman who had appeared to have blood on her face, a large swollen spot on her left eye, and cuts on the inside of her lip.
The victim said Oropeza assaulted her during an argument, so she stopped the vehicle and told Oropeza to get out of the car. The alleged victim told deputies the attack happened in the car where three children were present.
Deputies caught up with Oropeza, who allegedly told them she “did it” and she didn’t want to talk about it.
She was arrested and transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center.
