Voters in three Cherokee County school districts selected new board members Tuesday evening.
Beth Halpain Bailey won the majority of the vote for Keys’ board seat No. 3, with 53.24 percent, or 197 votes.
Bailey defeated four others – Barbara F. Smith, Brad Davenport, J.C. Ballew and Mike Harper – to avoid a runoff election, unofficial results show.
Smith pulled in six votes, or 1.62 percent; Davenport earned 52 votes, at 14.05 percent; Ballew garnered 91 votes, or 24.59 percent; and Harper gained 24 votes, at 6.49 percent.
Voters in the Peggs district chose Timmy Applegate for Seat 3 on the school’s board of education. Applegate won 50 votes, or 72.46 percent, compared to Shellie Shankle’s 19 votes, or 27.54 percent.
In Woodall’s school district, voters selected Tony M. Delmedico for Seat No. 3 with 72.73 percent, or 48 votes, compared to Gary Hawkins’ 27.27 percent, or 18 votes.
