Members of the Hulbert Public Schools Board of Education tabled the budget and estimate of needs for the district for the 2013-’14 academic year during their meeting Monday Night.
“Because of the Columbus Day holiday, we were unable to secure copies of the budget for the board members,” said Superintendent Marilyn Dewoody. “We did receive the copies today, but the board tabled action until the November regular meeting.”
During her report to the board, Dr. Dewoody explained that new playground equipment for kindergarten and pre-kindergarten students would be installed Oct. 21.
Dewoody also said the government shutdown is affecting the flow of federal funds to the child nutrition program.
The board approved fundraisers for student organizations and a contract with the Oklahoma State Board of Career and Technology Education to provide programs during the current academic year.
Also approved was a call for an election on Feb. 11, 2014, and a second election, if needed, on April 1, 2014, for board seats 2 and 4.
Mary Kennedy was hired by the board as a federal programs assistant to the district. All votes were unanimous.
