From Staff reports

TAHLEQUAH — A 13-year-old boy was hospitalized Wednesday night after being struck by a car as he was riding his bicycle on State Highway 82 north of Tahlequah.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Oscar Duran, of Tahlequah, was listed in stable condition with head injuries at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. Duran was riding a BMX bike south on S.H. 82 at about 9:30 p.m. when he was struck.

Troopers said Steven Ross Osage, 70, of Locust Grove, was driving a 2006 Chrysler van north on S.H. 82 and attempted to pass a moving vehicle before striking Duran. Osage was not injured, nor were the three passengers in his vehicle.

According to the OHP, the cause of the collision is under investigation.
