A former Cherokee County sheriff’s deputy was charged Friday for allegedly assaulting his wife.
Tanner Hendley, 34, of Park Hill, is formally charged with domestic assault and battery in the presence of a minor, a misdemeanor. Prosecutors allege Hendley struck his wife in the face Jan. 8 in the presence of a child.
The information filed in the case alleges Hendley committed the act with force and violence and an intent to injure the victim.
Hendley is no longer employed as a deputy, but no other information was provided because the matter is considered a personnel issue, the sheriff’s office said.
Hendley pleaded not guilty Friday during his arraignment in court and is scheduled for his initial appearance March 7 at 3 p.m.
