Bids being accepted for surplus at Hulbert Library

HULBERT — The Hulbert Community Library is doing some spring cleaning, and has put up some items for a silent surplus sale – including electronic products and  banquet style or folding-leg tables.

Anyone who’s interested can view the surplus sale items and turn in bids at the Hulbert  Eastern Oklahoma District Library System, 210 N. Broadway.

The as-is silent auction began Monday and will run through Saturday, April 4, said Amanda Gray, assistant librarian with the Kansas EODLS location. There are no set bid price ranges on the products ,and the highest bid will win the item.

“You don’t know what anyone else bids. So with just kind of a blind eye you bid and on Saturday, when we close, whoever has the highest will be the winner of that item,” she said. “The winner will be contacted by phone, and I think they have a week to pick up their item.”

Sale items include three brown folding-leg tables, a large rolling TV cart with locking doors, a 32-inch Zenith television, a Phillips DVD/VHS player, a Gateway computer processor, a Gateway monitor, a Dell flat-screen monitor, a computer keyboard, as well as other miscellaneous items.

Gray said the sale is open to the public and is not limited to just Hulbert library members.

“Anybody can bid on the them,” said Gray. “[The EODLS libraries] hold a sale every year just to clear out things we’re not using. They’re going to update equipment, but they need to get rid of the old equipment. They need to raise money to help buy the new stuff.”

The bids will include the time and date and will be placed in a sealed box. In the event of a tie, the item will be sold to the person who submitted the first bid. Bid winners will be notified by telephone and will be required to pay for and pick up the item by May 11.

The Hulbert library is open from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, while the Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
