Much of the business was routine during the Thursday regular meeting of the Hulbert City Council and Hulbert Public Works Authority.
The council did unanimously decide to regard the water intake structure project complete as is, and to close the applicable grant.
“The intake structure has not been as effective during drought conditions as we had hoped,” said member George Truitt after adjournment. “Accepting the project and closing the grant lets us move on and consider community development block grants. The current structure works when there is enough water, but we may consider the possibility of another intake structure in the Wildwood area, which would be in deeper water.”
The council also discussed a loan application through Lake Region Electric Cooperative for the fire department, but took no action.
During the public works meeting, members unanimously approved a $2,600 cost reduction concerning the relocation of natural gas lines around a project to straighten a curve on 410 Road.Regular reports by the fire and police departments were delivered at the city council meeting.
