Calls claiming to be OG&E may be a scam

TAHLEQUAH — We have received a report from Mike Doublehead of the Tahlequah Public Works Authority that two local businesses were contacted via phone calls by people claiming to be with OG&E. They threatened to turn off the businesses' electricity within a half hour if credit card payment was not made immediately. The calls originated from overseas, Tahlequah is not served by OG&E, and Doublehead said the TPWA never demands credit card information over the phone. Such calls are fraudulent. Hang up on them immediately.
